Thanks to Paul's very helpful response regarding iPhone <-> Entourage
sync'ing being through Sync Services, I decided I should clean up my
contacts and then make sure they sync'ed properly to the Apple Address Book
in preparation for sync'ing to the iPhone. I hadn't had sync services
selected before (forget why). So I selected it with what appeared to be
Entourage over-writes AB. That seems to have worked - at least the AB has
lots of contacts in it now. I'm not sure how they're sorted, although it
looks like it's by last name, except some seem to have put both first and
last names in one place so are getting sorted to the top because the last
name is blank.

But that's not a big deal. What is a big deal is that there aren't any
categories. None. And looking at the "help" for the AB it seems as if the AB
has something called "groups" instead of "categories." I don't care what
it's called, but is there any way to keep my Entourage categories when I
sync with the AB, or do I really have to go through all of them and
re-assign them to "groups"?

And less important (I guess) where do the "custom" fields end up in AB - or
don't they? I tend to use those places for lots of things that I need
(social security numbers, airline frequent flyer numbers, that sort of
thing). Am I going to have to move all those things into "notes"?
