Does this behavior happen in only the Deleted Items folder, or in any folder/Inbox? It's a bit strange. In any folder other than the Deleted Items folder, in an open message, when I click on a Trash icon, the message is moved to the Deleted Items folder. Same for a closed message. When I click on a message in the Deleted Items folder, and then hit the Trash icon, Entourage asks me if I am sure I want to permanently delete the message.
