The standard datum on GPS units is wgs84. Datum comes into play with
maps which are referenced in a variety of datums, in the us, NAD 27
and NAD 83. As the GPS was originally developed by the military, they
use wgs84 which is a standard worldwide and is for all practical
purposes identical to the NAD84 (north america datum).
