Bob, I agree with you, they largest of each species should have a
crown volume done on them. The Champion trees we did at Congaree had
awesome spreads. Unlike any trees I've ever seen except Live Oaks. I'm
getting good at crown spreads, my eye ground to tree limb tip is very
accurate. On the tall oaks where the trunk splits and forms the base
of the crown up to the top of the tree then outward to each spread
