What?! They didn't find any Aralia spinosa in the NYC metropolitan
area?????  It can't be that the curators and gardeners at NYBG are
mistaken as to what species we are pulling, can it? And it can't be
that spinosa only grows in the 50 acres of the Forest and not in the
Bronx River Forest 35 feet away on the other side of the parkway?!
I'll ask about elata.

I often can't find info I want on that BBG Metro Flora site. I
sometimes think maybe they have the site up and running before have
recorded/input all the data.
