Hi Barry,

That's an interesting question about the deer. I know there is an
established group of 24 or so on Staten Island and that they are
occasionally seen in Van Cortland Park and Pelham Bay Park in the
Bronx. I would imagine that more will wander down to the Bronx Parks
eventually. It would be nice. I know they eat a lot of vegetation and
can carry the lyme disease ticks, but I hope they will be welcome.
There are ticks in the parks already carried by other wildlife.

I love the Barnard NYC Trees book - I'm going to use it later this
week when I go to check out Alley Pond Park in Queens -  but I don't
know the Wild New York Book. I'll see if they have it at the library.
I ordered a book that is published by the NYC Tree Trust called Great
Trees of New York City. I hope it's good. I'll let you know.
