Jenny, I will scan my postcard when I get home, and send it out. I almost did last night. Barry

Thanks for that link. Interesting trees. I'll have to check out the spot where it was and see what is left. The site said it had offspring right around it. I assume it's not native? (I'm being lazy and not looking it up!). Pretty extraordinary if it is the parent of all the species in the country. I know there was a big nursery out in that area of Queens in the 19th century and some trees remain. I wish I could see your postcard. (I take pictures of my postcards- and then download them onto my photo programs!) Thanks for letting me know, Jenny On Apr 30, 11:12 pm, Barry Caselli <[email protected]> wrote: > To Jenny, > I was curious if you ever got to see this famous, landmarked tree in Flushing. It was on my list of things to see when I would finally get to NYC, but then I read that it died in 1998, so I missed out. It had been planted in 1847, and is the parent tree of all Weeping Beeches in the country, or so I've read.http://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/Q022/ > Take care, > Barry --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Eastern Native Tree Society http://www.nativetreesociety.org Send email to [email protected] Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/entstrees?hl=en To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
