I would guess these giants are the product of 250-350+ years of excellent
growing conditions. I would never believe they are the oldest tuliptrees in
the woods- just those with the perfect combination of site/growth and
disturbance conditions. Add some time and bam! A huge tree!

Will,  Wow! I agree your reports are among the best on ENTS. Those
Tulips are HUGE!  Great photos to! You guys look so small standing
next to those giants.  What age would you say the trees are when they
become that size range? 2-300 years? Heating up down south today 85,
going to Breaux Bridge La., lots of Live Oaks down this way should get
some good stuff.  I'll make sure I eat enough Gumbo, Crawfish and
Alligator for ya.   Larry
