That box is packed!  I can see you have a high success rate.  I'm currently
building a box myself, it's a little different from yours though.  I'll take
a photo when it's complete.  I collected some seed from a large american elm
that is in my mother-in-laws front yard.  Does it matter if the seed was
still green?  I transplanted some river birch that were growing in my
flowerbed.  I'll be doing the same at my uncles.  His flowerbeds a loaded
with chestnut oak and hickory seedlings.  How old is the swamp white oak you
planted?

They look incredibly healthy and happy! And I love all the other
little vegetation guys next to the tree box, too.  I hope I get to
understand trees enough to do that someday. I'm trying to grow all
kinds of different dwarf grass species from seed on my fire escape.
But the mourning doves and sparrows like to sit and rest in the
planters so the grass seedlings keep getting smothered. But the birds
look way too cute to chase away...

Thanks for posting the pix. Looking forward to the next progress
report!
