ENTS,

There is a curious nature to something I have found out today. All of you are
likely aware of the nasty invasive plant known as Japanese Knotweed Polygonum
cuspidatum. There is a nice article on the species at this page:
http://www.ecy.wa.gov/Programs/wq/plants/weeds/aqua015.html The entire
southern end of Thompson Island in the Allegheny River Islands Wilderness is
overrun by a seasonally impassible mass of knotweed up to twelve feet high.
Today I was reading about resveritrol, a supplement found in red wine that has
a number of reported health benefits, protection from cancers, increased
longevity. (Do you want to live to 125?), and so forth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3TGKOQeTrc. Looking at the contents of the
supplement, in most the primary ingredient is Polygonum cuspidatum Extract
(Root) - that is Japanese Knotweed root extract. The sellers say that this
extract is 50% natural trans-resveritrol. I am not sure what is the difference
is between the resveritrol mentioned in the various studies and
trans-resveritrol. As the Rev. Dr. Dodgson says, "Curiouser and curiouser."
