We have white/chestnut hybrids here, but the leaves of that tree don't quite
look like the ones pictured.  They even have a scientific name, though I
don't know it off the top of my head.  I'm going to be in the field near one
of these today - I'll see if I can get a leaf.

Well there ya go. That sure looks like it to me. At work we definitely have
Chestnut Oak and White Oak, so a hybrid between the two is conceivable. 

Years ago I though I had found a Chestnut Oak here, but couldn't find it
again later. But much of the side woods was lost during the wildfire of 1976
(9 years before we moved here). Very few mature trees from before the fire
exist in the side woods. Maybe there were Chestnut Oak in there before the
fire.
