What a terrible shame. On a similar note, sort of, here in New Jersey, in the 
mid 1970s a landmark 100-year-old church and 2 or 3 houses burned down from 
kids playing with matches. This was about 20 miles from here.

I'll be traveling through southwestern Ohio in a week or so and would love to 
see some giant sycamores if anyone could steer me in the right direction.  I'll 
be near Gallipolis, OH which is across the river from Point Pleasant, WV.  


In related news, in my internet research on big sycamores of that area I saw 
that the WV champion sycamore at "Sycamore Park" in Webster Springs fell victim 
to a 17 year old arsonist this past April!  Check out the story here:

He was also charged with possession and underage drinking!  That tree was 500 
years old...
