Larry:

Good questions and thoughts. The limb count will obviously be less than
the trunk at stump count since it has not been around as long but
interpreting that difference will be difficult. Having pictures
(Bartlett is sending those to me) will give some idea but only that --
an idea. Once I get the "monster cookie" up here, I'll look into this in
more detail and get other colleagues' "advice". Assuming we can get a
reasonable ring count for the limb, we should have a reasonable minimum
tree age, i.e. no less than that age for the tree. Thanks for the input.

Vic

Vic, I to am very interested in the ring count also. How much
different would the limb count be verses the trunk count? The Live
Oak growth rates I have seen indicate fairly rapid rates, varying
from .125 on the low end to as much as .50 on the high end, radial
rates. Larry
