Was this post in response to another? It seems fragmented?

I started hunting again four years ago in response to the local deer
population. I live in Delaware Co. Pennsylvania. It is a suburban
environment with fragments of forest scattered thoughout. Decades of
buck hunting has left the herds unbalanced. Groups of 25-30
antlerless deer (does) are common. The Game Commision has taken
strides to change things to the dislike of many hunters. In our
county the antlerless licenses are $6 and you can just about buy as
many as you like. The butcher offers a donation service where you can
give the meat to folks that need assistance. I hunt in the backyard
of five of my neighbors, and there is never a dull moment due to the
number of deer. I use a crossbow, which is very accurate and deadly.

I have approached the Penn State Extension agency about setting up a
program where hunters can be connected with residents that have too
many deer, as getting permission to hunt is the biggest obstacle to
hunting in the suburbs. I hear many stories of hunters returning from
the "mountains" empty handed. Last year I harvested a buck and three
doe.

The meat is lean, free range, organic if you think about it. Nothing
is wasted. Even the entrails feed several species such as buzzards,
fox, crows, beetles, and other insects. Alot of these species relied
on the remainder of kills from the wolves and big cats that are now
extripated form our area. It is just a natural thing to do for me.

In the scope of four years I have removed two bucks and 12 doe from
our neighborhood.

Most people I ask about hunting permission tell me to kill as many as
I can due to someone in their household who had contracted lime
disease.

Hunting is dying out though. The number of hunters is on a steady
decline. Those who are against hunting may have their wish in a
couple of decades due to lack of interest. Who knows what will happen
then?
