Steve,   You are correct, they had a 30' tidal surge. Many Live Oaks
were damaged from Home debris, barges, boats etc. Very few Live Oaks
blow down from wind and water alone. Before Old Shell Rd was built in
the late 1800's, now Hwy 90, the Live Oaks grew right up to the waters
edge and survived countless Hurricanes for milenium.  Larry
