My friend is the Education Supervisor at Stone Mountain and she informed me the cedar trees are estimated at 300 years old on top of Stone Mountain. Pretty amazing!

These have been estimated to be 300 years old. I was told this when I started working here but can get a direct citation somehow if you need it. I assume he's talking about Easter Red Cedars (Juniperus virginiana). Just curious, Eli --- On Sat, 9/5/09, JamesRobertSmith <[email protected]> wrote: From: JamesRobertSmith <[email protected]> Subject: [ENTS] Stone Mountain Georgia To: "ENTSTrees" <[email protected]> Date: Saturday, September 5, 2009, 12:15 PM I have a friend who has been told (I've heard the same) that there are some extremely old cedar trees growing on Stone Mountain in Georgia (Stone Mountain Park). Any idea if this is true, how old these stands are, and where they're located on the mountain? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Eastern Native Tree Society http://www.nativetreesociety.org Send email to [email protected] Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/entstrees?hl=en To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
