Larry, That is a great story if you come across more information or details it would be worthwhile to post more about the history of the oak tree. I have become interested in histories of trees and individual personal histories of trees important in someone's life.

After much reading and locating all the new prospects. I had a friend come over Saturday and away we went. Our first stop was at the Abbot Paul Schaueble Oak, growing behind St. Joseph's Abbey north of Covington, La. On November 13, 1957, at midnight a powerful storm went through St. Joseph's Abbey, blowing out many of the windows in the church and strewing the pipes in the massive pipe organ tnto the walls like daggers. The mid section of the Oak was wiped out and a sizable split incurred. FR. John LeBlanc, one of the Benedictine monks, refused to cut the tree. Instead he secured it with bolts and heavy braces and it still thrives today, depicting the true spirit of resiliency of the Live Oak. Measurement are as follows, CBH-22' 10", Spread-156' x 147', and Height-63'. A beautiful tree with a fantastic crown.
