On of the best books I've ever read is "Olympic Battleground: The Power
Politics of Timber Preservation" by Carsten Lien. It is about the long
struggle to have Olympic National Park on Washington's Olympic Peninsula
designated under FDR, and then protected from logging and development
efforts during WW II and the 1950s. This is my favorite national park.

I've only caught bits and pieces of the Ken Burns series so far so I don't
know if they've covered Olympic NP yet (or if they intend to).
