One of those parks that is an historic site is the one here in downtown St. 
Louis, Jefferson National Expansion Memorial.  Most people realize that it is 
the Gateway Arch and the grounds that the Arch sits on but it also includes The 
Museum of Westward Expansion (located under the Arch, entrance by each leg) and 
Old Courthouse (where the Dred Scott trial was held).
 
I am sure that there has to be something similar in NYC.  Ellis Island and 
Statue of Liberty?
