Marc,

I have visited Purgatory Chasm in the past. A scattering of old trees - mostly
hemlocks. Nothing of championship status, but nice.

Sorry I didn't get to connect with you over the weekend. I'm getting over a
sinus condition and just needed to get home. I'll be returning to eastern Mass
and your area before too long and will look to connect with you.

Subject: [ENTS] Has anyone explored the Purgatory Chasm's surrounding forest?

I was in the town of Sutton today and reminded me of Purgatory Chasm.
I believe this place is managed by the DCR. I was there a few years
ago and impressed by a few of the Hemlock along the trail leading to
the chasm. This was way before I had become a member of ENTS so I
never even thought of measuring them. Has anyone checked out this
place and measured any of the trees?
