Tim-
The SoCal system of resource fire protection (circle fire with linked
engines) is a marvel to behold! Phrases like 'sounds like a jet taking
off..' still come to mind when I recall going outwest on fire details
from Region 8...it's hard to explain fire nehavior in manzanita,
buckbrush, chemise, and such, with oven-like Santa Ana winds on the
prowl...stuff of nightmares!
Re the shift of computers to social networking applications, it's a
wild weird world out their and a surprising window that we wouldn't
otherwise have a view through! Never know what you're going to see
there. My nephew has pretty much written off a political career with
the shenanigans that have been captured by cell phone cameras during
military rites of passage!

Re excitement of forum, the recent interplay between east and west
coast tree climbers of coastal and central California redwoods with
simultaneous coverage by National Geographic, my Humboldt State Univ.
Alumni mag (featuring HSU's Steve Sillet) gave me a sense of being 'in
the church of here and now'!
