Does anyone know what the likely outcome will be if all or most of the peat bogs and permafrost at northern latitudes release their stored carbon as methane? How much hotter will Earth be then?
What would be the absolute worst case scenario for climate change if all fossil fuels are burnt and all the carbon in perma-frost, peat bogs and tidal marshes is released as methane? What types of life would be left on Earth if that were to transpire? If anyone has these answers or know where to find reliable models or calculations of these scenarious, I would like to know.
