Marc + Don, I don't know where some of the English Oaks rank but many are huge. I think that there is one in Shearwood Forest that is called Robin Hood. I know this sounds like I'm joking but I'm not. I'll see if I can find a picture. I will also ask the International Oak Society which species of any oaks in the world that they think is the largest. He claims that California black oak (Quercus kelloggii) can get larger than any oak species on the east coast. Of course I disagree and that the Live oaks of the south (East Coast &Louisiana) are the largest of North America. I have a small friendly wager riding on this, besides I don’t want the west coast to claim any more tree superlatives.
