Unless I'm missing something the punctuation problem belongs to whoever 
wrote the text for the forestry bulletin. As far as I know no one at the 
Cornell Cooperative Extension was twittering or texting in 1996 when the 
referenced text was written. Perhaps their education at Cornell wasn't 
quite what it should have been.

In our twittering, texting and multi-tasking age I understand that it's 
challenging to read ENTS posts carefully before typing a response so 
I'll forgive you and Gary this time.
