Soooooa Doooopa! Yes, the road hemlock becomes our tallest. Bummer.
Can you join us tomorrow for the climb of the Thoreau Pine? We'll
meet at the Charlemont Inn at 8:30AM.
That 109.2 x 11.5 is a honey. There is a much larger hemlock up
on the side of the ridge, south side, around the curve from Black
Brook going east. It's high on the ridge- hard to reach. It has a big
basal swell. It's on a very steep slope.it's girth approaches 13 feet.
We should go visit it. It isn't tall. I think it is in the high 90s.
