Will, The tupelo is fairly easy to get to. It would only require a couple of miles off trail following the creek upstream. Directly across the creek there are groves of loblolly pines with one with a reported cbh of 15'.
The park record for water tupelo is 125.9'. Most of the ones I have measured have been around 115'.
