Jenny, Bob,
Thank you very much for responding so positively to my poem. I have others I
plan to send to you. I agree that we do need an ENTS book of poetry. And,
Jenny, that you wrote lyrics to a folk song - that does count for poetry. I
agree that on a sunny day in November there is nothing more glorious than the
radiant leaves of sunlit old growth oaks. As far as the artist from Chartres
goes, I neglected to mention that the artist is female, and to answer your
question about the artist succeeding in raising herself from the mud she does
indeed! Boy, does she! She celebrates the Earth and its glorious old growth
forests in her art, yet she is bound to the Earth, and she celebrates the
depths of the Earth as well as the celestial spaces. Old growth forests are a
big part of both novels, and one of the novels deals with wonders discovered in
a cave. Through her work the whole world will see how precious and inspiring
our old growth forests are, and how precious our lives and the lives of trees
are in this universe filled with life and light.
Tom Howard
