Interesting. I've only heard of it within this group. The natives in NJ are Pitch Pine, Virginia Pine (uncommon), Shortleaf Pine, and the White Pine up in North Jersey. Supposedly Loblolly Pine is native here. I've seen some, but can't be sure if it was planted or not.
