Steve, To add, I have been researching Linville Gorge. I went there with Brian Lyman, Chris Craig and Cody and we camped off the Spence Ridge Trail for three nights last summer. We caught the heck outta Rainbow Trout and Smallmouth Bass. I intend to go back in 2010 with my Clinometer, Rangefinder and tape to explore the forest there. Linville Gorge has a considerable amount of old growth. Still my fishing equipment will probably be in my backpack too.
