     Monica and I are headed home. BTW, I did visit Monticello on a  
wickedly cold and windy day. Even so, the place was like a zoo.  
Couldn't wait to leave.

      There are some fairly tall trees in the ravines visible from the  
access road up the mountain, and some gorgeous shortleaf pines, but  
access to the best spots might be tricky. Regardless, as a forest  
site, Monticello isn't in the same universe as Montpelier.
