As I think back to my 3 visits to Montpelier, the dominance of
Liriodendron tulipifera is impressive. Everyone of the 160 footers is
over 12 feet in girth. So, Virginia has at least 6 trees in the 12 x
160 club. I expect there are a few others perhaps inthe coves of the
Blue Ridge and one or two more in Montpelier.

Hey buddy, tulips are everywhere down here. That observation, is
not new, but has been strongly reinforced as a consequence of this
visit. What a great species. Tulips rule. They're tree dudes. They're
waaay cool! No, they're more than that. They are wicked cool. No,
they're more than that. They're sizzling hot cool!
