Bob,

Raymond Anderson is 86 years young and he is so proud of his tree.. One of his
daughters lives in Virginia and she visited the National Champion for her
dad...to get pictures and check out the competition! She told her dad that the
Virginia tree should have some points taken off for being ugly. Raymond always
loves to relate this story with a big grin on his face. I guess one of the
owners actually had many of the lower limbs cut off so you could see the house
better or something. Raymond just looked at me and said "can you believe
someone would do that?"

Raymond is an ENT even if he doesn't know it!

One of the interesting things that I learned about him is that he was a crew
member of a B-24 bomber in the second world war. I'm not certain but I think
he was the navigator. This could partly explain his ability to measure better
than most people. He doesn't say much about this experience as it was quite
bad, but one of the guys in his squadron was Jimmy Stewart. Some of the guys
asked Jimmy about his time back home but he just said that that was not what he
was there for. I got the impression that Raymond had a good deal of respect
for him even though he didn't say so.
