ENTS, FYI- many of you may already know about this, but my online research of trees in Georgia lead me to an interesting site on "Significant Trees of Georgia" by Dr. Tim Smalley in the UGA Horticulture Department. The goal of this project is to "document the historical and horticulturally significant trees of Georgia." They specifically avoid attempts to document champion trees (others like ENTS have that covered), though in many cases these culturally/historically significant trees are quite large! You can search trees by location, latin name, or common name here: http://www.uga.edu/significanttreesofgeorgia/treeindex.html Another great way to connect the human element with trees and help get people more involved in caring about and protecting trees and greenspaces! ~Eli -- Eastern Native Tree Society http://www.nativetreesociety.org Send email to [email protected] Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/entstrees?hl=en To unsubscribe send email to [email protected]
