Jeffrey,

Welcome aboard. ENTS has attracted folks from a wide variety of disciplines.
We're all equal in the eyes of the trees. Thanks for the post.

Subject: [ENTS] Hello all--Happy New Year! I would like to say that--

I joined this group about three months ago just because I am enamored
with the Native plantings.
Well not just trees, but all --from skunk cabbage to Tamaracks. I am a
lowly Landscape Designer and Horticulturist for a S.W. Pennsylvania
Nursery
I sit here on the slow days and read some of the terrific posts, and
cannot wait until the CENTS show, and Spring, and the wonders for the
next season.
My interest is the Native plants here in PA-- well I am from northern
Ohio, and moved here six years ago, and have found that people have
the crazy deer problems, and are really not knowledgeable as to where
plants should be sited-- example would be ---OH lets put this Cornus
florida right here in the front yard of a south facing house. This has
become my mission, to introduce the natives, and to educate the
clients.
I am a big fan of the Ilex opaca, and have not seen any posts on
this--
As you see by my screen name, the Nyssa is my baby--just really enjoy
the tree--
When I travel to southern Ohio, and WV on my mushroom, and ginseng
hunts, I do come across some of the most intriguing native stands of
oaks, beech, and the wonderful shagbark hickory. I just need to bring
the camera sometimes!
I would like to post my thoughts on the Bamboo--yes I had seventeen
varieties--
The Norway Spruce---well I do like Pinus bungeana better--ehhh not
native but--
anyways--time for dinner
