>>SUMMARY OF POSITION:
>>
>>The Director of the Indonesia Program is responsible for the design and
>>implementation of a coordinated, long-term strategy for the conservation
>>of biological diversity in Indonesia.  S/he acts in concert with Yayasan
>>Pusaka Alam Nusantara (YPAN) and other partner organizations to affect
>>policy, raise conservation funding and build a strong national team with
>>the skills needed to develop and carry out a shared mission. The major
>>duties will focus on strategic planning, the development of biodiversity
>>conservation initiatives, coalition building, partner selection and
>>capacity-building, fundraising and long-term finance, and
>>administration.

>>The Director will represent the Conservancy's programs broadly to the
>>global business community, Indonesia national government, and various
>>local, national and international organizations And the TNC Board of

>>DUTIES:

>>1.    Develop and implement a comprehensive conservation program in
>>Indonesia.  Develop a strategic approach to selection of national,
>>regional and local partner organizations, institution-building,
>>long-term funding strategies, and model conservation projects in
>>Indonesia.
>>
>>2.    Fundraise for the Indonesia program, YPAN and other partner
>>organizations from local, national and international sources and train
>>Conservancy staff and partners to raise funds.  Ensure accountability
>>for grant expenditures and timely grant reporting.
>>
>>3.    Coordinate an effective approach to international funding sources
>>including multilateral and bilateral agencies.  Design and negotiate
>>grants, contracts and policies that support a broad range of
>>conservation activities in Indonesia.

>>4.    Conduct managerial oversight and administration of all Indonesia
>>Program activities, including budgeting, project development, staff
>>management, financial and contracts administration, and ensuring
>>adherence to TNC policies and procedures.

>>5.    Recruit experts and consultants to assist Conservancy staff and
>>partners in implementing successful projects, while building the skills
>>and long-term capacity of Indonesian professionals and organizations.

>>6.    Ensure local participation in all activities, including effective use
>>of advisory boards and regional coordinating committees.  Assist in the
>>development and implementation of training programs as appropriate.

>>7.    Work as part of a team to plan, implement, monitor and periodically
>>update the Conservancy's strategic approach to conservation in the
>>Asia/Pacific Region.

>>8.    Represent TNC to businesses, NGOs, government agencies, and other

>>ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
>>
>>1.    At least 5 years successful work experience in one or more of the
>>following areas:  conservation, natural resource management, a related
>>business, institutional development, government relations, or management
>>of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Graduate degree and Indonesian
>>experience highly desirable. 
>>
>>2.    Strong fundraising and negotiating skills, including successful
>>experience working with multilateral, bilateral and corporate donors.
>>
>>3.    Proven ability to produce tangible results, work independently, and
>>lead successful team projects.  Excellent interpersonal skills and
>>sensitivity to an advisory role in dealing with partner organizations. 
>>Proven ability to motivate and lead others to achievement.
>>
>>4.    Demonstrated successful experience in strategic thinking, organizing
>>complex projects and moving several objectives forward simultaneously,
>>especially in circumstances with high uncertainty and limited data. 
>>Proven project planning, management and contract administration skills
>>on large projects.

>>5.    Strong training, supervisory and networking skills.
>>
>>6.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
>>required.  Indonesian language skills desirable.

>>7.    Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural situations with a wide
>>range of people in both the public and private sectors, including
>>business, non-governmental organizations, donor organizations,
>>government, local communities, consultants and volunteers. Knowledge and
>>background in the customs and government organizations of Indonesia.

>>8.    Willingness to travel frequently and on short notice, often to remote
>>areas.

>>9.    Experience with electronic communications (i.e. E-mail, Internet,
>>etc.) as a user and familiarity with word processing.
>>
>>10.   Demonstrated commitment to conservation and the goals of The Nature
>>Conservancy.          Able to make a minimum three-year commitment to
