I got my Elan7 from B&H 3 weeks ago. So far I shot 2
rolls with it to test the metering system (matrix).
In short, the Elan7 is much better than the ElanII in
back light situation. It still underexposes in some
cases but better than the ElanII.
The IR remote receiver is located on the grip which is
much better location compared to the ElanII (near the
lens) and give you longer range. The Lens hood always
block the IR signal receiver of the ElanII. (It uses
the same IR remote as the ElanII)
AF is fast, the 7 AF sensors give me more freedom in
composing the picture.
The DOF review button located on on the left side of
the lens mount. When you have the 550EX flash mounted
on the camera, that button will fire the modeling
light of the 550EX. Nice feature.
ECF works faster and more accurate. I never got the
ECF of the ElanII to work for m but the Elan7/E ECF
works well
Overall, the camera is very close to the ElanII in
feature. If you have the ElanII and a good light
meter, there is little need to upgrade to the 7.

P.S The 28-135IS is a great lens but somewhat soft.
Good for handheld shooting but if you have the time to
setup a tripod, tak out the 50/1.8 or 85/1.8 you will
be able to enlarge the picture further.
