The EOS3 is my first non-Nikon camera. I am used to the old F, the F2 and the F3
- all of them metal bodied "heavies" from days of yore.
I was not especially concerned about the EOS3 being a plastic body. It seems
tough enough. Certainly it is heavy enough, especially with the optional battery
pack.
I believe the underexposure problem (1/3 stop) was limited to early models and
has been fixed with newer firmware in all but those early models. My camera
required a firmware update to solve a problem that was killing my batteries
despite the body main switch being turned off.
I have had no trouble with the camera other than that. I have no want of
confidence in its robustness for lacking a metal chassis.
My plastic Nikon F90X seems equally as tough. The preference for metal bodies is
one that I share. However I see it as rather illogical despite my being as
affected as anyone else. These plastic bodies are plenty tough enough it seems
to me.
