The underexposure was only in early models and is easily fixable with a
firmware upgrade which can be done on the spot. That being said, I don't
think there are any of those early models still in the 'new' retail
pipeline, so as long as you're buying from a vendor who actually sells them
routinely(rather than the dusty old -3 I saw at my local store), then it's
very unlikely you'll have one of the early models. I bought my -3 from B&H
a few months ago and it works absolutely great.

Plastic body. The body is incredibly tough and solid. Any shock that'd
crack my -3's body would shatter the electronics and optics inside first.
In addition, remember that plastic will absorb more of the shock than a
metal casing. And significant here in Maine, the -3 won't still to my face
in the winter!

The -3 is a heavy duty and heavy body. I thought about getting the 1v
instead but opted for the -3 because the price differential wasn't balanced
by the feature differential. I'm glad I got the -3, it's already a heavy
body and I don't think I would've liked the weight of the 1v.
