The 70-200 f4 will yield much sharper images than the zooms you're looking
at for about $800- I am very pleased with mine, although 400 f8 with the 2x
is quite slow...
I don't have it, but the reputation of the 100-400 IS is very good, it is
more money, but if you can squeeze it may be a very nice choice...
The 70-200 f4 if very light and easy to carry and very sharp.. the 100-400
considerable larger...
