I'm not familiar with the Elan 7 per se but doesn't it have a way of
manually adjusting ISO? If so, as the Rebel series does, one can check
the ISO of the film in the camera by turning the command dial to ISO.
I would, however, certainly agree that the film window should be clear
rather than being too dark to know what kind of film is in the camera.
