My 28-135mm IS is a decent lens. The IS works, but the optics are not equal
to prime lenses, but for the price, you couldn't expect them to be. With the
D30 the focal length will be increased, like cropping the center from the
picture, due to the smaller sensor size. I suspect this may increase any
optical shortcomings just like cropping a negative; howver, I don't have any
direct experience.
