I use this 70-200 2.8L lens a lot and you can see many images done with it
on my web page (see signature below) .

It is my standard lens for individual and family portraits and I use that
length more than any other... Mount it on a EOS 1N, put it on a tripod, hook
up a remote release and fire away.... and wow is the rotating collar ever
nice to have. The fast aperture makes it easier to smooth out distracting
details in the background...

I use it for event photography with flash when I need to get closer and the
extra speed makes it easy to manually focus.. I've also put it on a tripod
to shoot concerts using available light...

It's great for many types of landscape photography and it is sharp enough
you can use a 1.4 or 2x extender and still have a reasonably sharp image.

The advantage of the white lens is that it doesn't get hot in the sun and
people assume you are a photographer and most often stay out of your way...
It does attract some attention... but that isn't all bad as you are
guaranteed some eye-contact for a few frames....

The only disadvantage of it is that it is a bit heavy if you are going to
carry it far and you probably won't be able to shoot handheld at 1/60th and
1/125 is often pushing the limits.... Perhaps they will come up with a IS
version at some point.....Now that would be a killer lens.
