Charles,

I have this same tripod (I love it--but watch out, you might lose the
little rubber feet in a creek or whatever. I superglued mine on after
losing one. Bogen was kind enough to replace it no charge.) and I found
that Velbon's smallest magnesium ballhead works beautifully with it. It
is only around $60 and it is very, very solid (surprisingly so, for such
a small head). It can hold my eos-3 with 70-200/2.8 or 28-70/2.8
without slipping even when I sling the whole rig over my shoulder. It
is a bit of an odd design without a separate panning lock (panning and
ball loosens with one lever). The best part is it only weighs 6 oz.
This head is really a wonder and matched about perfectly with this
particular tripod. If you want a bit bigger head, check out the next
one up the line. The little one is model PH-253 if I remember
correctly. Mail me if you have any questions.

Mike
