I wasn't going to do this, but I feel I must. You all have a right to
know. Several days ago, I telephoned B&H and ordered a few things,
including a new Canon EOS lens. I should say that I've dealt with this
company for many years and never once had anything even nearing a
complaint. And this time, I not only don't have a complaint, but I can't
even begin to tell you just how wonderfully everything went.

Don't think I've ever had a retail experience that I enjoyed quite so
much. I spoke with Jay, in their camera department. He was kind, polite,
knowledgeable, sincere, witty, communicative and sage. I felt that I was
talking with a funny, warm-hearted old friend whose only interest at
that moment was my eternal happiness, a la photo equipment. Within three
days, I received my order. It was perfect. And there's more. One item I
very much wanted was out of stock. I was disappointed, but these things
happen and I just let it pass. Two days later, I received a call telling
me it was now in stock, if I were still interested. How often does that
happen from a company as large and as busy as B&H? (I recently dealt
with Epson, who I will never ever deal with again - they were rude,
sloppy and incomprehensibly ill-informed about their products). Anyway,
comparatively speaking, I'm sure my B&H order was very small and the
object in question was not a particularly high-ticket item, but I was
made to feel like a very valued customer, something increasingly rare in
this grab-the-money-and-run society. It's that kind of attentiveness
that keeps me handing my paycheck over to them.

In my opinion, B&H fully deserves its fine reputation along with every
success. I will never buy photographic equipment from anyone else. And
Henry, Jay gets a raise.
