Thanks Julian (and the others who responded)!

I shoot slides (since 1978 or so) and want to use ISO 100 most of
the time.
In that range I already have the EF 24/2.8, 35/2, 50/1.8mkI and 100/2
(and love them even though I would like to get a 35/2USM, Canon can
you hear meeee?!) but sometimes just need a faster zoom.

After comments from this list and after thinking and searching myself
I have found a route which I most probably will follow:

I will keep the EF 28-135 IS and get myself the older (current?)
Sigma EX 28-70/2.8 which seems to be priced pretty reasonably
since the new DF-model is coming soon (they said "December").
Thus about 350 euro (300+ USD) including taxes.

I still don't know what the "DF" will add to the current EX Sigma?
I quess not the FTM-feature ?

I will use the 28-135 normally but the Sigma in special occations.

I'm aware of the lower quality (mechanical and perhaps optical too,
according to photodo.com at least) compared to Canon 28-70L
as well the possible comnpatibility issues but for the price
the Sigma fits better for my current needs.

Thanks once more to the people on the list.

Vesa
