My opinion is, since you're holding onto the camera at all times when using a monopod there's no need for it to be excessively sturdy...it's not really supporting the weight of the camera, you are. I checked out the Flexhead at a camera show and was not impressed at all...it might be OK if you're only shooting horizontally, but it took all my strength to turn the camera vertically and then it requires continuous pressure to hold it there. I went with the Bogen 3232 swivel/tilt head and like it fine...the compact ball head would probably also be a good choice.
