The IX lite is 0.4" (1cm) narrower, 0.2" (.5 cm) thicker and 2.8oz. (70gm)
lighter than the IX. It has a 1/2000th vs 1/4000th shutter and 1/125th flash
sync versus 1/200th max for the IX. That's pretty much the difference.
The first thing to decide is how important is a different (and somewhat more
expensive) format for your negatives? Are you willing to shoot print film
only (slide film is only available outside the US)? If you get past those
stumbling blocks, I think you'll enjoy the camera a great deal. I own an IX
just for that purpose, although I have an even smaller Fuji Endeavor APS P&S
that stays in my briefcase just in case. It's nice to be able to use other
EOS accessories, too. If you have an Elan II/IIe, they share the same wired
and wireless remotes.
If you don't already have the 28-105 and think that's the range you like
best, then you should buy a 24-85 since the APS negative is smaller and the
24-85 gives approximately the same coverage on APS as the 28-105 on 35mm
film. It's marginally softer and uses 67mm filters, but a nice wide zoom on
your 35mm bodies.
All that said, I think you'll find on the used market that the IX is
actually chaper than the Lite because of the Ritz/Wolf $199 closeouts.
One final option - If you have access to the Japanese marketplace, there is
an ECF version of the IX, the IXe. Three ECF points like the Elan IIe, about
$500 USD.
