My wife has a nice little black Elph Jr that will fit inside your Fuji
DL1000. Instead of a zoom lens, it has a very nice 26mm f2.8 lens and
produces sharp and vivid pictures that she often prefers to what comes out
of my "real" stuff. It uses standard APS film. I don't think she's ever
taken any party pictures that she wanted to blow up to 16x20, but for
snapshots and reprints up to 8x12, it's great.

As for the IX, it really is a small light alternative to a traditional SLR.
Not as small as the Elph or your Fuji, but no brute, either.
