I think the same thing happened to my Rebel G.  I took the lens off and
noticed a wire came free on the left mirror hinge, which I'm betting is what
the problem is.  Just going to buy an Elan 7 instead of having it fixed
(repair would easily cost over half what the camera is worth, and the flash
is flaking out as well).
