Is there any projected timetable from Canon to produce a full frame, 35mm
digital SLR? I believe Contax and Pentax have announced cameras for this
summer or fall. Once cameras of this type become available with about 6
megapixel capture and the prices drop significantly and if they use existing
EOS lenses, I could consider switching to digital.

Inkjet prints can be excellent, but they are somewhat time consuming to
create and print for snapshots. They are also not inexpensive and the life
span is still questionable in my mind because we are working with simulated
aging tests that don't take into account all factors that could impact print
longevity. Also, I still like the impact of projected slides for travel,
nature photos etc.

I am impressed that the handcolored B&W photos of my parents wedding look
just a fresh as they day they were produced some 60 years ago. Unfortunately,
the color photos of my wedding, taken 28 years ago, are almost worthless. Of
course, the negatives are long lost. Fortunately, a friend shot some
Kodachrome, and the slides are still excellent. Longevity can be important
for some applications.

My .02 cents worth.
